just like you
VetCare@peace is a fabulous service staffed by wonderful, compassionate people. Their service is exemplary and I would highly recommend VetCare@peace to anyone going through the horrible situation of losing a beloved pet.
Deborah Mutch

We contacted VetCare@Peace and we were able to take her the next day to be cremated. The care, kindness and understanding of Glen, along with the beautiful surroundings made it much easier to say goodbye to our beautiful girl.

I have used this vet on several occasions and I cannot honestly say they are the best vets when you are having to make a difficult decision. They are kind, caring and compassionate and I can honestly say I would not use anyone else.

Our Location
Trusted. Dignified + local service
We searched for the right location for a long time before choosing our site in Belper. It sits peacefully between nature and community—with the Derwent river on one side and the bustling Peak District town of Belper on the other. It's a space where pets and people can begin their next chapter.
Why Us?
Our small team is dedicated to supporting you in every way we can, from the moment your pet comes into our care to the return of their ashes and beyond. We provide clarity, choice and comfort at every stage.
Treated As Individuals
Each pet is treated individually and with the upmost care and compassion. Knowing you'll go home together once again.
Dignified Farewells
We offer calm, compassionate support from first contact to the return of ashes — making every goodbye as gentle as possible.
By Trusted People
Trusted by local families through VetCare@Home, we're proud to continue that care through every step of your pet's final journey.
Everybody Welcome
Whether you need a quiet farewell or a faith-based service, we honour every belief, every background, and every kind of love.
The Story behind VetCare@peace
Oliver was our first dog, our best friend, our everything. He lived a long beautiful life with us. Sadly he got old and his time eventually came. I never could imagine the heartache to come. We phoned our local vet who couldn't see him straight away. We then had a very long sad morning. We had a very sad last drive in the car to the vets. We had a last walk into the vets together with myself carrying him as he was too poorly to walk. I had a last look up to the sky - where he was probably going 🙏. It was all so sad. I still remember every single detail. It's was years ago! I then found out he would be on a long journey in a van with other dead animals on the way to a pet crematorium so far away.
I wanted change. For owners and our beloved friends. We have been searching for many years for our beautiful location and it's right here in the beautiful Amber valley. No more long journeys for our beautiful friends. No move long waits. No more stressful journeys to the vets. No more unhappy memories at the end. We can come to you if required.
This is the start of VetCare@peace
We welcome you ❤️ with love.

Founders & Pet Owners

Meet The Team
We are a small team, determined to take good care of you and your pets. We founded VetCare@peace to give pet owner's a modern approach to pet cremation whilst, holding close, traditional values.

John Rosie
Our founder, John was born in Liverpool and raised surrounded by animals, He followed a lifelong passion for veterinary medicine—earning his B.V.Sc with Honours in 2004 and building a career across the UK and Australia dedicated to delivering exceptional, compassionate veterinary care for VetCare@Home & VetCare@Peace.

Catherine Rosie
I’m a busy mum to three and work for vetcare@peace and vetcare@home. I was born to love and help animals. From growing up in London, my dream was to work in London zoo! I moved to Derby due to family circumstances so needed to look into other options. Ive worked in many different jobs including kennels and cattery, vets, nurseries and pharmacies. I’m now working full time in the company and absolutely love working with the fantastic team we have. I also love to travel and I’ve traveled the world twice and lived in Australia. I’m always on hand to help with anything.

Sally Leivers
Having grown up among a wide variety of animals and bringing over three decades of pharmacy experience, Sally now plays a key role at VetCare@Peace—combining her passion for animal behaviour with friendly client support, and spending her free time exploring the outdoors with her three Dachshunds.

Joe Cattee
With a decade of experience building trusted relationships in a family-run pharmacy, Joe brings a deep understanding of how important pets are to the families he serves, supporting VetCare@Home & VetCare@Peace's mission to make veterinary care easier and more comforting.

Rachel Henderson
I qualified as an RVN in 2012 and since, have worked in a variety of small animal and referral practices, including 6 years as an ophthalmic nurse. As far back as I can remember I have always loved animals and had a menagerie when growing up.

Dr Kirstie Pickles
I am passionate about delivering the best experience for both client and pet in the comfort of their own home and enjoy the personalised care we can provide at VetCare@Home and VetCare@Peace. I also work part time at Harper Keele Vet School and run my own mental health and neurodiversity training company.

Dr. Ruth Robinson
I love working locally for VetCare@Home. It’s great to work in a small, close-knit team who, like myself, have pet health, welfare and quality of life at the forefront of their minds. It’s such a privilege to be welcomed into people’s homes to care for pets in their own environment.

Olivia Duffy
I have always been a little obsessed with animals and living on a farm I always had enough pets to keep me busy during my spare time. When I made the decision to move to a VetCare@Peace, I loved the idea of treating animals in their own home.

Alex Edwards
I have always had a love for animals. I originally studied animal behaviour at university focusing on wildlife, which led me to work abroad for blocks of time. I’ve been working for VetCare@Home since 2019. I really enjoy working in a close-knit team & treating pets in their own homes.

Louise Reeder
I started my career in veterinary nursing in July 2000, aged 16, just two weeks after leaving school. I completed an NVQ2 in Animal Care before progressing to my nurse training, qualifying in 2003. I have spent the last 19 years in small animal practice, carrying out a number of roles including trainer/ assessor of student nurses, stock control, insurance claim advisor, branch safety officer, fire warden and many more!

Dr. Cath Bennett-Williams
I qualified as a Veterinary Surgeon in 2001, from the Royal “Dick” Vet School in Edinburgh. I have an interest in small animal medicine, especially in dealing with chronically ill or geriatric patients, working to improve their disease management and their quality of life.

Nicky Crimlis
Whilst working in practice I particularly enjoyed caring for hospitalised patients and also wound management. After having my 2nd child, I started working for Pet Blood Bank, which is a fantastic charity that saves doggy lives every day. I continue to do this alongside my role at VetCare@Home. I enjoy working for VetCare@Home as I love working in the community, with different people and their cherished pets.

Dr. Joanna Ramsden
The aspects of home visit vetting which I most enjoy include being able to spend longer consultation times with each pet than in standard practice, and having good continuity of care, so that we can really get to know each and every pet and their owner well. I particularly value being able to give the nervous or elderly pets a stress-free experience.

Rebecca and George
Rebecca and George love being handled and stroked, bringing happiness to all that are involved with them.
