The Story Behind VetCare@Peace

It’s a deeply personal story, and it is how our journey at VetCare@Peace truly began.

We often get asked a very thoughtful question: “What made you think to set up a pet crematorium?” It’s a deeply personal story, and it is how our journey at VetCare@Peace truly began.

Saying Goodbye to My Absolute World

My very first dog was a beautiful boy named Oliver. To say he was my absolute world would be an understatement. We shared an incredible bond, and he reached the wonderful age of 13 before he unfortunately became unwell.

Eventually, we had to make that awful, heartbreaking decision that every pet owner dreads. The veterinary team was fantastic with his end-of-life care, ensuring he passed peacefully. But it was only in the days that followed that a heavy question crossed my mind: where had my boy actually gone to be cremated? In the fog of grief, I never did actually ask.

The Heartbreaking Reality of Standard Pet Cremation

When I looked into standard industry practices, I was heartbroken. I learned that he would have most likely been placed into a plastic bag, kept in a freezer for days, and then transported miles away in a van alongside many other pets to a massive, industrial crematorium.

It made me wonder—with such a long, impersonal process and so many pets being handled at once, how likely was it that I actually received him back, and only him?

Many veterinary practices use these huge crematoriums because they are part of a corporate chain and are told which ones they have to use. I knew in my heart that our pets deserved better.

A New Standard of Care: The VetCare@Peace Promise

That realization was the spark that began our journey of providing excellent, compassionate aftercare.

At VetCare@Peace, we do things completely differently. When your beloved pet comes to us, there are:

  • No freezers

  • No plastic bags

  • No long car journeys packed with other pets

  • No agonizingly long waits to bring them back home

From the moment they arrive, your pet is loved and cared for. We guarantee they are treated with the absolute respect and dignity they deserve. Most importantly, you will only receive their ashes back—nothing else. That is our unwavering promise.

We are incredibly proud that since opening our doors, many vets and veterinary nurses choose to bring their own beloved pets to us, rather than using the large chains.

Doing Better for Our Animals

It is my love for Oliver that drives us to do better for animals every single day. They give us their whole lives, and they are just as important as us. They deserve a farewell that honors that love.
