Celebrant Service
Respectful & supportive pet cremation

Ceremonies, whether funerals or weddings, are the landmarks of our lives. They affirm our relationships to each other and express who we are as individuals, and our connection to family, friends and communities.
Animals are part of our families; they are our friends and companions. When we lose a pet, the loss can feel overwhelming. A simple but heartfelt ceremony can help us accept our feelings of grief, as well as celebrate the life we shared with our pet.
Our celebrant Kate is an experienced funeral celebrant who will help you to create the funeral or memorial ceremony you want, to tell the story of the pet who has died.
She can write the whole ceremony, and suggest appropriate poems, texts or music. Or she can create the structure around your ideas. You may want to involve others to be present and speak, you may not. Whatever your approach, she will bring it all together, working with Vetcare@peace for you and your pet.
Kate is accredited with Humanists UK and has over 7 years of experience delivering ceremonies without religion for humans. Her approach puts the bereaved first and tailors each ceremony to the person or animal who has died.
Known for her calm and compassionate manner, she has the ability to support people who are in an emotional time of their lives and to deliver a ceremony which is personal and meaningful. To find out more about her as a celebrant, please visit her website. https://www.katestoddartcelebrant.co.uk
How It All Works
We suggest before you decide anything, you have a short chat on the phone with her, to share your initial thoughts. If you decide to go ahead with a ceremony, we would book a longer meeting, which would provide all the information to feed into the ceremony. You would have the opportunity to add or take away anything that did not feel right.
Firstly
The ceremony will be written in response to what you feel is right for you and your pet. There is no pre-written script or set pieces. It is about how you would like to do to honour the memory, the character and quirks of your animal companion.
Next
The ceremony can take place in a quiet and pleasant room at Vetcare@peace or you could have a burial in a garden or a scattering of the ashes on their favourite walk. You might want to share your most vivid memories with others and celebrate the life afterwards with a drink. Kate can come up with ideas, write a script and lead a ceremony or help you create a DIY funeral too.
Finally
On the day, the celebrant will be at your side and lead you through the ceremony, to mark your pet’s life and help you to say goodbye. A funeral can make the loss easier to bear, as you can share the ritual and a gathering after with friends or family.
